I am ready to make a change in my life and it starts today. Exercise has never been a problem with me. It is what I eat that is the problem and this is something that tons of people struggle with so I know that I am definitely not alone.
If you have read my other posts you would know that I do have a condition called PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome). This can cause a woman to be insulin resistant (we can have this even if our lab test comes out normal) and to have a lower than average metabolism. A lot of women with pcos are now finding that low carb or keto helps them get the weight off and reduce some of their symptoms. I said in my other post that I had a hard time following those two diets but I think I am going to try low carb again.
While I am not really overweight, I do want to lose some fat off my frame. More importantly, I want to watch my portions/calories and carbs. I want this to be a lifestyle change and not just a diet. I want to do something I can maintain for the rest of my life. I am also hoping that the change in what I put in my body will eradicate my monthly fertility window “illness.”
So my goals are as follows:
- Lose fat- I am going to try going by the mirror for a while rather than by the scale.
- Lower calories- I want to stick to a calorie range of about 1200-1500 a day. Right now I am consuming way more calories than I think I really need.
- Lower carbohydrate intake- I am not watching the amount of carbs I consume and I think that it might be time to do so. This is especially true if I am insulin resistant.
- Continue to be consistent with exercise- I have loved exercising for years now and I want to keep being consistent with my routine.
